MacIntosh Internet Mail Setup Info

The screens which accompany these instructions reflect what you will see when entering your specific email information into Internet Mail for Mac.

To get to the Preferences area, install the Microsoft Internet Explorer package (CD).
Choose your Hard Drive, and then Microsoft Internet Applications to see the screen below.





Click on the shortcut to Internet Mail and News 3.0. The shortcut is the icon with the hand on it (shown in the upper right-hand corner above).
Do not open the Internet Mail and News folder (shown in the lower right-hand corner above)

Open the Preferences folder (shown in the upper right-hand corner in the screen shot below). -OR- Choose Edit and then Preferences.



On the Preferences screen (shown below), select E-mail from the Mail & News list and enter the following:

  1. Under Personal Settings, the Real name is the name you want to appear next to the email.
  2. The E-mail address should be your username@jvlnet.com (all in lower case).
  3. The Organization can be anything you want.
  4. Under Sending Mail, the SMTP Host should be mail.jvlnet.com (all in lower case).
  5. Under Retrieving Mail, the Account ID is your JVLNET username (all in lower case).
  6. The POP Host should be mail.jvlnet.com (all in lower case).
  7. The Password is your JVLNET password (all in lower case).



One of the benefits of this email program is that it can handle more than one email account. To add additional email addresses that have been setup with JVLNET, click Add (located near the lower right-hand corner). Detailed instructions can be found in the Getting Started folder (found on the left hand side of the screen). Please refer to this information should you have any difficulties.
