Mac OS 9 Internet Setup Assistant

1. From the desktop, double-click on the Hard Drive icon.
2. In the Hard Drive icon, double-click on the Assistants folder.
3. From the Assistants folder, double-click the Internet Setup Assistant icon to open the folder shown below.

Would you like to setup your computer to use the Internet? Click Yes.

Do you already have an Internet account? Click Yes

On the Introduction screen, click the Right Arrow Button.

Configuration Name and Connection Type

  1. When the screen prompts you to "What would you like to name this configuration?", type in JVLNET.

  2. Then, make sure Modem is selected when it asks you "How will you be connecting to the Internet?".

  3. Click the right arrow to continue.

Modem Settings

  1. Select the modem that is installed in your computer. It is probably already selected by default but if you are not sure, refer to the documentation that came with your computer.
  2. If you have an Internal Modem, make sure it is selected.
  3. Make sure Tone is selected.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Configuration Information

  1. Enter the JVLNET access number that is local to you. Here is the complete list of JVLNET access numbers.
  2. Enter your JVLNET Username where it asks, "What name do you use with this service". This is also the first part of your email address (username@jvlnet.com).
  3. "What is your Password?" Enter the password either assigned by JVLNET or chosen by you.

*Note: Make sure both the username and password are entered in all lowercase letters.

Click the right arrow to continue

JVLNET does not require a PPP Connect Script to connect, make sure the no radio button is selected.

Click the right arrow to continue.

JVLNET does not provide you with your own IP Address. Make sure the No radio button is selected.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Domain Name Servers

  1. Primary:156.46.57.10
    Secondary:156.46.57.20
  2. Enter jvlnet.com in the Domain Name Field below.

Click the right arrow to continue.

Internet E-mail Address

Enter your JVLNET email address in the space provided and click on Next.

E-mail Account and Host Computer

  1. Enter your username@mail.jvlnet.com for the email account field.
  2. Enter mail.jvlnet.com in the Host Computer field.

Now click on the Right Arrow.

The Newsgroup Host Computer name is news.jvlnet.com.

Make sure No is selected in the Proxy Servers box.

Now click on the Right Arrow.

Click on the Go Ahead to complete the setup.
